I am a cookery teacher and writer. I have been cooking for over 20 years and teaching for 15. I currently run the Food and Wine Workshops at Norwich City Football Club alongside Delia Smith. My former Cookery School in Provence was put in the top ten of the world’s best and before that I was director and tutor of Raymond Blanc’s Cookery School. I won Cookery Journalist of the Year for my Cooking with Confidence series and if you’ve seen me on Ready Steady Cook, you’ll know that I can also knock up something tasty in 20 minutes.
Much of my understanding and enjoyment in the kitchen comes from the enormous amount I’ve learnt by listening. The questions I’ve been asked by students and readers over 15 years have helped me discover new ways of cooking at home. These questions have helped me to become more of a cook and less of a chef. Since the birth of my sons and becoming a patron of the Kids Cookery School my responses to these questions have broadened even more. With Merchant Gourmet I am discovering new ingredients and ways to use them that make every meal, every day, ever more delicious and practical.
