We only select the very finest quality chestnuts to produce our rich and smooth Chestnut Puree. They are gently roasted to give a rich, full flavour and colour, and then sieved to a fine puree until smooth. The result is a fantastic Puree that is so versatile and easy to use!

Our Chestnut Puree is wonderful as an ingredient for both sweet and savoury recipes - it is excellent when used in stuffings, soups and sauces, and will also work well in your baking and dessert recipes.

You can use this product to make a sweetened Chestnut Puree by combining 1/2 can with 125g caster sugar and beating the mixture until smooth - this will make 340g of sweetened puree. Try this sweetened puree on pancakes, with crepes or serve it over vanilla ice-cream.

To make a delicious soup you can also simply add 435g of Chestnut Puree to 400ml chicken stock and add in some chopped seasonal vegetables.

Have just salvaged a tin of Chestnut Puree to use with tomorrow`s lunch. Shock - no recipe on tin. Horror - must use initiative! Hastily try web site and find recipe posted by Jennifer way back on 31 Dec 05. Good on yer Jen, you saved the day!

Does anyone from Merchant-Gourmet read these reviews? I think not as there is no response apparent to the missing recipe on the Chestnut Puree label!

Following your recipe from the web site, I made the cheesecake for a buffet lunch. It was delicious, similar to pate in texture. Compliments all round. It will be first on my list of `must have` party foods. Well done Merchant Goumet !

      Chesnut stuffing

I just got out a tin of puree from last year out of the cupboard to make a desert for a New Year`s Eve party tonight. I was looking on this website for inspiration and saw your cry for help. Here is the stuffing recipe on the tin - sorry it is too late for Christmas. Fry 115 g each of chopped onion, celery and lean bacon in 25g butter until lightly golden. Cool and mix into 115g fresh white breadcrumbs, 2 tbsp chopped parsley, grated rind 1 lemon, 435g can chestnut puree, 200g whole chestnuts (roughly chopped) and season with 1 tsp dried thyme, salt and pepper. Bind the mixture with 1 beaten egg. P.S. I did a wonderful chestnut puree desert with meringue one time - I don`t suppose anyone has that receipe do they?

I am also disappointed that there is no recipe on the label.. From memory it goes something like: Fry 1 chopped onion and 200g chopped celery in butter . Fry 200g chopped lean bacon. Cook 200g whole chestnuts, remove skins and chop. Mix together with the can of Chestnut puree and 200g bread crumbs. Season with salt, pepper. Bind with 1 egg. Put ingredients into a baking tray. Add thyme and parsley. Grate and sprinkle lemon on top. Cover with foil and bake.

For years I have used the chestnut stuffing recipe that used to be printed on the tin of chestnut puree. This year it is not there, and I expected to find it on your web site. It isn`t there, either, so I am really disappointed and miss it.
