One Minute Cook Polenta £1.19

A traditional ingredient in Northern Italian cooking. This versatile ground maize can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes. Try using in place of pasta, mashed potato or rice - just like the Italians do.

Use as a base for bruschetta by cooking for 5 mins. Allow to set in a shallow, oiled tin and then slice and brush with olive oil and griddle or grill until golden brown.

Add to cake recipes to give a distinctive texture or use in savoury breads and muffins.
Enhance the flavour by adding Parmesan, Dolcelatte or Gorgonzola before the Polenta sets.

when you`ve weighed out the quantity of polenta you need for 2 or more people, tip it into a measuring jug, remember where it comes up to and then you can use this volumetric guide for both the polenta and the water next time you make it
