Ideal for including in a nut roast
A recipe I use for nut roast includes roasted chestnuts and you have to mash them up. So, finding them ready prepared in this bundle made that much easier.

A great bundle for sweet or savoury makes, but I’d prefer it with more chestnuts & without the Spiced Grains
Chestnuts are such a tasty nutritious base to use in both sweet and savoury dishes and the purée make great sauces and fillings and blends well to thicken or add flavour, not to mention making tasty meringues. In all the years I’ve used Merchant Gourmet products, I’d never had one I could use or really didn’t like. At Christmas I bought the spiced grains with chestnuts and other goodies and I decided to use it for a main Christmas dish. There was so much pushed to one side on plates, that I realised I was not alone in disliking the overpowering taste and nasty after-taste. I wondered if perhaps my pack had got a double dose of spices in error. So When I saw this bundle, I decided to give it another go. I’ve not used it yet, but will add a further review if my second experience is better, I’m just trying to think up a recipe that combines its powerfully individual flavour with other ingredients that help it tone down a bit.
