Marry Me Miso Lentils

Think marry-me chicken, but make it lentils. Puy lentils folded through a silky miso cream sauce with garlic, ginger and a little heat from chilli oil. Comfort food that feels just a little bit special.

Marry Me Miso Lentils
Ingredients
  • 1 pouch of Merchant Gourmet Puy Lentils
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 150ml double cream
  • 150ml chicken or veg stock
  • Neutral oil or butter
  • To finish: fresh coriander, chilli oil. Serve with good bread.

  1. Fry the onion in oil or butter for 5 minutes until soft and translucent. Add the garlic
  2. and ginger and cook for 2 more minutes.
  3. Add the white miso and fry for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until it darkens and
  4. smells all caramelly.
  5. Add the mirin and soy. Pour in the cream and stock, bring to a gentle simmer and
  6. cook for 4-5 minutes.
  7. Tip in the lentils and fold through gently. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add more stock if
  8. it's reduced too much.
  9. Serve with a generous drizzle of chilli oil, fresh coriander and plenty of good bread to
  10. mop it all up.
